Dissolving filler: when it is the right call.

Hyaluronidase dissolves hyaluronic acid filler in hours. Who needs it (migration, overfilling, lumps, old filler) and how Dr. Sara does it without taking away more than she should.

One of the best things about hyaluronic acid filler is that it can be undone. Many patients come to Injection Studio from other clinics in Alexandria asking exactly for this: to reset lips that have migrated, cheeks that look pillowy, or under-eyes that are puffy.

What hyaluronidase is

An enzyme that breaks hyaluronic acid into fragments your body clears. Injected into the filler, it works within hours and completes over one to two days. It does not dissolve your own tissue in any lasting way; your natural hyaluronic acid regenerates within days.

When it is used

Filler that has migrated above the lip line (the “filler moustache”). Overfilled cheeks or lips from years of top-ups. A lump that has not settled after a month. Puffy under-eyes after filler that should never have been placed there. Old filler before starting a cleaner plan. And urgently, within minutes, when a vessel is blocked.

How Dr. Sara does it

Precisely and in small amounts. The aim is to remove the wrong filler, not all of it. She tests for allergy when there is any history, dissolves, lets you heal for two weeks, and only then decides together with you what, if anything, to put back.

What to expect

Swelling for a day or two, sometimes a bruise. The area can look deflated for a week while your own tissue recovers. Final result at two weeks. Hybrid fillers, calcium and PLLA biostimulators cannot be dissolved; this is why they are placed only where they cannot go wrong.

Quick answers

Does dissolving filler damage my skin?

No. Natural hyaluronic acid in the skin regenerates within days. The area may look slightly deflated for a week, then returns to normal.

Can I refill the same day?

Dr. Sara prefers to wait two weeks so the enzyme is fully gone and you can see your real face before deciding.

Does it hurt?

It stings more than filler for a moment. It is quick and local anaesthetic is used.
