Botox and filler during Ramadan: can I have them while fasting?

Medically, injections do not affect the fast and fasting does not affect the result. Best timing is two hours after iftar, minding dehydration and bruising. The religious ruling is a question for scholars.

Every year before Ramadan we are asked the same question. Here is the medical answer; the religious ruling is for scholars, not for us.

Medically

Botox, filler and skin boosters go into skin and muscle, never the stomach, and provide no nourishment. Fasting changes neither the result nor the risk.

Best timing

Two hours after iftar: hydrated, stable blood pressure, fewer bruises. Injecting after twelve hours of fasting in the heat increases dizziness and bruising, especially for filler, which needs compresses and water afterwards.

Lips in Ramadan

Lips dry out with fasting and filler swells. For Eid lips, do them at least two weeks before Ramadan, or two hours after iftar with plenty of water at night.

Botox for Eid

It needs two weeks to work, so mid-Ramadan is the latest.

Quick answers

Do injections break the fast?

A religious question for scholars. Medically: an injection is not food and does not reach the stomach.

Can I use numbing cream while fasting?

Medically no issue. Again, the ruling belongs to scholars.

Are you open in Ramadan?

Evening appointments after iftar. Book online or on WhatsApp.
