Mesotherapy, PRP or GCELL for thinning hair?

Three scalp injections, three mechanisms. Mesotherapy feeds the follicle, PRP uses your own growth factors, GCELL uses regenerative cells. Who suits which, and what none of them can do.

Hair injections are not one thing. In Alexandria the three you will be offered are mesotherapy, PRP and, more recently, GCELL. Here is what each does and how Dr. Sara chooses.

Hair mesotherapy

A cocktail of vitamins, amino acids, peptides and sometimes minoxidil or growth factors, injected superficially across the scalp. It feeds the follicle directly and improves circulation. Best for diffuse thinning, postpartum shedding, stress shedding and dull, slow-growing hair. Four to six monthly sessions, then maintenance every two to three months.

PRP (platelet-rich plasma)

Your own blood is spun to concentrate the platelets, which release growth factors when injected. Nothing foreign goes in. Best for early androgenetic (hereditary) thinning at the crown and parting, and as a booster alongside mesotherapy. Three to four monthly sessions, then every four to six months. Results depend heavily on how well the PRP is prepared.

GCELL

A regenerative treatment using micro-grafts of your own tissue processed on the day, rich in progenitor cells and growth factors, injected into thinning areas. Fewer sessions, stronger stimulation. Best for stubborn thinning that has not responded to mesotherapy or PRP, and for patients who want the most intensive non-surgical option before considering a transplant.

What none of them can do

Regrow hair where the follicle has been dead for years. A shiny, completely bald area will not respond to injections; that is a transplant conversation, and Dr. Sara will tell you plainly. Injections work on follicles that are thin and sleepy, not gone.

Blood tests first

Ferritin, vitamin D, B12, zinc and thyroid are checked before any course. Treating the scalp while a deficiency continues is wasted money.

Quick answers

Can I combine PRP and mesotherapy?

Yes, and it is a common plan: PRP for the growth signal, mesotherapy for the nutrients, in alternating sessions.

When do I see results?

Less shedding at six to eight weeks, visible thickening at three to four months. Hair grows a centimetre a month; patience is part of the treatment.

Is it painful?

The scalp is sensitive but the injections are quick and shallow; numbing cream or a vibration device is used. Most patients rate it three out of ten.
